Making a record is one of the hardest things you will do, as the end result of airplay is far from guaranteed. I have spent 9 years on my singing career, performing recording and spending a great deal of money! Here are 3 essential things that you should know if you want to embark on the path to fame in the music business, which I have learnt from my experience.
1 The song is everything. Without a 'hit' you are nothing- Your writer is one of the most important people you will know. GOOD songs are very rare to find.
2 Your producer is GOD. He/She will give you your sound and provide the production on your single/album. He/She may find you the song that you need. PAY for a good producer that is current and doing work with a known track record.
3 You will need to have the following to be seen as a credible artist to a record company.
- A web based following, either on your own site or on Myspace
- A local following from Gigs that you have done
- An image, with quality photographs
- A press presence backed up by a credible music PR agency
